Olive Food Scanner ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information in connection with the Olive Food Scanner website and iOS application (collectively, the "Services"). Please read this policy carefully. By accessing or using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy and by our Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Services. This policy does not apply to third-party websites, services, or Apple Inc.'s collection and use of account or payment data in connection with the App Store.
This Privacy Policy applies to the Website and the App operated by Olive Food Scanner. It applies to all visitors and users of the Services. By using the Services, you accept the terms of this Privacy Policy. This policy does not apply to (a) third-party sites or services linked from or to our Services, or (b) data collected by Apple Inc. (e.g., Apple ID, payment information) in connection with downloading or purchasing the App or in-app subscriptions; such data is governed by Apple's privacy policy and terms.
We do not collect, store, or process any personally identifiable information. We do not maintain user accounts or store any user data on our servers. Specifically:
Analytics are limited to Google Analytics on the Website (and, if applicable, in the App), and are used for analytics only, as described in Section 5. We do not use analytics to identify individuals.
We do not collect, and we do not request, any of the following: name, email address, mailing address, telephone number, login credentials, payment card details (handled solely by Apple), government-issued identifiers, biometric data, or any other information that could identify you. We do not combine analytics data with any identifying information.
We use Google Analytics on the Website solely for analytics purposes—to understand how visitors use our site, improve our Services, and measure engagement. We do not use Google Analytics to collect, store, or process personally identifiable information. We do not pass PII to Google Analytics.
We use only analytics-related technologies on the Website, such as cookies set by Google Analytics. We do not use cookies or similar technologies for advertising or to identify you personally. You may control or block cookies through your browser settings or use browser or third-party opt-out tools where available. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of certain parts of the Website or our ability to analyze aggregate usage.
We do not retain user data on our systems because we do not collect or store user information. Any data collected through Google Analytics is held by Google in accordance with Google's data retention and privacy practices, as described in the links provided in Section 5.
To provide food analysis in the App, we use third-party processing. When you scan a product, the barcode or list of ingredients may be sent to an external processing service (e.g., an AI API via our proxy server) to generate a health or ingredient report. Such requests contain no metadata linking the request to your device, IP address, or identity. These third parties have their own privacy policies governing their processing of data.
Legal basis: We do not process Personal Data for our own purposes beyond what is described here. Where we use analytics (e.g., Google Analytics), we rely on our legitimate interest in improving and operating the Services; in jurisdictions that require consent for non-essential cookies or similar technologies, we will obtain consent where applicable.
Your rights: You have the right to ask what data we hold about you. Because we do not collect or store Personal Data, we do not hold any such data. You may object to processing or request "deletion" of data; as we do not store your data, there is no data to delete on our systems. You may have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your jurisdiction.
California (CCPA/CPRA): We do not sell Personal Information. We do not collect identifiable information as described in this policy. We do not retain Personal Information beyond what is necessary for the purposes stated, and we do not retain user data on our systems.
The Services may be accessed from anywhere in the world. By using the Services, you consent to the processing of information as described in this Privacy Policy, which may involve transfer to or processing in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate.
Our Services are not directed to individuals under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children. Because we do not collect PII, we do not knowingly or unknowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us and we will take steps to address the situation consistent with applicable law.

If any provision of this Privacy Policy is held to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
This Privacy Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. This choice of law is without prejudice to any mandatory rights you may have under the laws of your country of residence.
